Glossary

We believe in transparency so we've created a glossary of every ingredient we use as well as information on the intention behind our choices of what we will never include in our products and how we make each product with care.

Ingredients you won’t find in our products

Parabens

All our products are formulated without parabens.

Parabens are a chemical used in many personal care products to preserve them by preventing growth of bacterial and fungus. Evidence suggest that parabens can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, and contact dermatitis in some people, especially those with sensitive skin or skin allergies. Additionally parabens have the ability if entered into the bloodstream at a large enough percentage to mimic the effects of estrogen.

Allergens

All our products are extensively reviewed against all common allergens to ensure none are used.

Endocrine disrupting ingredients

Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are chemicals that can mimic hormones and interfere with the endocrine system, which plays a role in development, metabolism, and behavior.EDCs can be found in many types of consumer products, including cosmetics, and even low doses can be unsafe. When absorbed by the body, EDCs can, decrease or increase hormone levels, mimic natural hormones, alter hormone production, block the pathway between a hormone and a receptor, cause glands to produce too much or too little of a hormone.

This is why you will never find endocrine disrupting ingredients in our products. As the US market does not regulate the use of endocrine disrupting ingredients we adhere to the current regulation and lists in the EU (here).

Fragrance

We avoid the use of fragrance in our formulas to avoid any potential irritation, redness or inflammation. Any scent in our products are directly derived from raw ingredients such as green coffee.

Sulfate

We are committed to not using sulfates in our products.

Sulfates are a chemical using in many personal care products as a cleaning agent. In cosmetics this surfactant binds dirt, oil and other impurities on the hair or skin making them easier to wash away. Sulfates have the ability to cause irritation, dryness and inflammation especially those with preexisting skin conditions.

Certain variants of sulfates have the ability to remove too much oil from the skin compromising the skin barriers natural function.

Aluminum Powder

Some research has shown that Aluminum Powder can cause skin irritations, rashes and nerve damage. Additionally, it has been linked to health effects such as cancer. Although most commonly found in antiperspirants our products will never contain aluminum powder.

Made with intention

Hypoallergenic

All of our products have completed and successfully passed Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing (HRIPT), a panel of 50 participants of all different ages and skin types to determine irritation and allergic contact sensitization. The conclusion of this test deemed all our products non-irritating and hypoallergenic.

Dermatologist Tested

All our products have completed Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing (HRIPT) under the review of a Dermatologist to determine irritation and allergic contact sensitization potential- none of which is required by the US market but incredibly important to us.

Non-comedogenic

Our formulas are formulated to never include pore clogging ingredients making our products great for those that experience acne or have combination skin.

Cruelty Free

We do not test on animals and never will.

Made with love

We often say Antimatter as a brand is a love letter to personal journeys of healing and self care which is why all our products are carefully developed with love and extreme thoughtfulness.
